The Cometic C5512-062 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines. Constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, it offers increased strength, rebound capability, and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are coated with Viton rubber, a heat-resistant elastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250 C (482 F), ensuring reliable sealing in demanding environments. This head gasket features a compressed operating thickness of 0.062 inches and a bore size of 4.060 inches. Its MLS construction makes it suitable for mating aluminum heads to aluminum blocks, as well as aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, effectively withstanding the shearing forces that can arise between dissimilar materials. The center layer is uncoated stainless steel, allowing for variations in thickness to meet specific requirements.
