Description

The Cometic C4315-051 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket specifically engineered for the Toyota 5SFE 2.2L engine. This gasket features an 88mm bore and a compressed operating thickness of 0.051 inches, ensuring a precise fit and optimal performance. Constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, the C4315-051 utilizes Viton rubber coating on its outer layers. Viton is a heat-resistant fluoroelastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F), making it ideal for demanding sealing environments. The MLS design offers increased strength and the ability to rebound, which helps resist corrosion. This construction method allows the gasket to withstand the shearing forces between different block and head materials, making it suitable for both aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-cast iron configurations. The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, allowing for variations in thickness to accommodate different engine requirements. This gasket fits the Toyota Camry (1992-1997), Celica (1990-1997), and MR2 (1991-1995) models equipped with the 5S-FE engine.
