Motorsports Steel K-Member for Engine Swapping

The Maximum Motorsports MMKM-2.1 is a steel K-member that facilitates engine swaps in 1979-1995 Mustang models. This hybrid K-member bolts directly into the chassis and offers revised engine mounting pads and steering rack location to accommodate various engines, including the 5.0L Coyote (2011-2015+), 4.6L/5.4L modular, 3.8L V6, and LSX. It features an updated design for improved fitment with 2015+ Coyote engines, with all units shipped after 8/1/18 incorporating this revision. Weighing in at 39 lb, it is 22% lighter than the OEM K-member, while being exceptionally strong, stiff, and durable. The design prioritizes maximizing stiffness to maintain stable suspension geometry during cornering, leading to more precise handling and increased braking stability. Construction involves advanced cross-bracing and triangulation with thicker-gauge metal and larger tube sizes for superior strength and longevity, suitable for drag racing, road racing, and daily driving. Installation of the MMKM-2.1 requires several additional components, including tubular front control arms, a front coil-over conversion with high-performance struts, MM Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings, caster camber plates, and a bolt-through-style bumpsteer kit. Specific engine configurations may also require extra parts, such as an oil filter relocation kit for 4.6L modular engines with an OEM oil cooler, or specific 1996-2004 4.6L V8 engine mounts for Coyote engines and 1996-2004 V6 engine mounts for the 3.8L V6. Short swaybar endlinks and front swaybar relocation brackets/universal bushings are also required with non-offset and forward-offset front control arms. Notes regarding fitment and installation include that stock front control arms will not fit due to the size of the pivot bushings. For 1979-1993 Mustangs, three different front control arms are available, offering options to maintain stock tire location or shift it forward by 0.75" or 1.5". Similarly, for 1994-1995 Mustangs, two control arm options shift the tires forward by 0.75" or 1.5". LSX engines will require fabrication of engine mounts or modification of Ford modular mounts. The MMKM-1 is recommended for installing 5.0L, 302, 351W, or 2.3L engines in a 1979-1995 Mustang.
