Overview

The Racer X Fabrication MR2 Shifter Box is designed as a replacement for worn-out OEM shifter assemblies in 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 models. This shifter box is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum for a solid mounting foundation, eliminating rubber grommets and providing a more direct connection. It features a cable stay that fully encompasses the shifter cable head to reduce flexing during shifts. The unit is anodized black for corrosion resistance and is compatible with various aftermarket shifters including TRD, Super Klasse, and Fidanza/B&M. It is also compatible with Toyota MR2 Gen 2, Gen 3, and Gen 4.

The Racer X Fabrication shifter box is engineered to revitalize the shifting experience in 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 vehicles by addressing common wear and tear issues found in the original equipment. This performance upgrade is constructed from CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum, offering a significantly more rigid mounting plate than the stock assembly, which often suffers from rust and worn bushings. By eliminating rubber grommets, it ensures a solid foundation for the shifter components. The design incorporates a cable stay that securely encloses the shifter cable head, retaining OEM spring clips to minimize flex during gear changes. The shifter cup socket is precisely machined with a smaller internal diameter to apply increased pressure on worn OEM polymer cups, restoring a tight and responsive feel. Furthermore, the bell crank utilizes a precision sealed bearing and a CNC-machined bushing for optimal spring tension and direct feedback. This shifter box comes with a black anodized finish for enhanced corrosion resistance. It is designed to integrate seamlessly with the 1991-1995 Toyota MR2 and is compatible with specific aftermarket shifters such as TRD, Super Klasse, and Fidanza/B&M. It is also noted to work with Toyota MR2 Gen 2, Gen 3, and Gen 4 models. Please note that this shifter box does not include the shifter itself, shift knob, OEM shifter spring, or polymer cup. Installation is rated as 1 hour of difficulty.
