The Cometic MLS Head Gasket, part number C4278-120, is engineered to deliver maximum sealing performance for high-output engines. Constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel, it offers increased strength, the ability to rebound, and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are embossed and coated with Viton, a heat-resistant elastomer capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F), making it suitable for demanding sealing environments. The compressed operating thickness is 0.120 inches. This Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) gasket is ideal for applications involving aluminum heads to aluminum blocks or aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as it can withstand the shearing forces between dissimilar materials. Unlike traditional gaskets, Cometic MLS head gaskets do not require sealants or re-torquing when properly installed.
