Constructed with a small, cast aluminum chassis, the amplifier is built to resist corrosion and vibration. All control settings are kept secure behind a gasketed, removable top cover for protection against the elements.

The JL Audio MX500/4 is a 4-channel, 500-watt full-range marine amplifier engineered to provide powerful audio in compact, demanding environments like marine vessels and powersports vehicles. It employs a high-speed NexD switching design, which allows for efficient power delivery that keeps charging system strain low. At 14.4V, it delivers 75 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms or 125 watts RMS per channel into 2 ohms. The marine-grade construction ensures reliable long-term performance in harsh environments. For added utility, the unit includes automatic turn-on capabilities via signal sensing or DC-offset sensing, facilitating easier integration into existing factory systems. Installation and setup are straightforward, with all audio controls located under a gasketed, removable top cover to protect them from environmental exposure. The amplifier includes a frequency response of 12 Hz – 22 kHz and offers switchable low-pass or high-pass filter modes with a 12 dB/octave slope. Optional remote level controls, such as the HD-RLC or MHD-RLC, are available to manage output settings. The package includes the amplifier, a manual, and an installation wrench.
