N51/N52 3.0L 6-Cylinder Electric Water Pump & Thermostat Kit

The VDO 11517586925-KIT is a comprehensive replacement kit designed to address the common failures of the electric water pump and thermostat in specific BMW models. This kit is tailored for vehicles equipped with the N51, N52, and N52N 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engines, commonly found in late-model 3-Series and 5-Series BMWs, as well as the 128i and certain X3 and X5 models. This kit includes all the necessary components for a complete replacement: a new Pierburg electric water pump (OEM), a Wahler thermostat (OEM), one gallon of Genuine BMW coolant/antifreeze, and a set of replacement bolts for the water pump. Using OEM parts in this kit helps reduce the risk of component failure and ensures perfect fitment and operation, comparable to the original equipment. Proper functioning of the water pump and thermostat is critical for maintaining optimal engine temperature, preventing overheating, and ensuring efficient operation. Symptoms of a failing water pump can include coolant leaks from the weep hole, play in the pulley shaft bearing, squeaking noises at idle, engine overheating, or a low coolant light. Installation of this kit requires a specific cooling system bleed procedure due to its "self-bleeding system." It is recommended to connect a battery charger during the 12-minute process. With the ignition on (but the engine off), set the heater to maximum temperature and blower speed to low. Then, press the accelerator pedal to the floor for 10 seconds to initiate the procedure, which can be confirmed by listening for the electric water pump.
