This is a Genuine BMW replacement rear turbocharger assembly for the N54 engine, specifically for bank 2, cylinders 4-6. It comes as a complete unit, including the exhaust manifold and wastegate. Turbos on the N54 engine are known to fail, often before 100,000 miles, with symptoms such as high oil consumption, blue exhaust smoke, increased turbo lag, or inability to hold boost. These issues typically stem from worn internal oil seals, shafts, or bearings, necessitating a complete rebuild or replacement. The listed turbocharger is compatible with various BMW models including the 335i, 335xi, 335is, and 335i xDrive from model years 2007-2010, and also specific 335is models up to 2013. It is crucial to note that this turbocharger is for Left Hand Drive (LHD) models only and will NOT fit Right Hand Drive (RHD) models. Proper turbo maintenance is essential, including practicing a cool-down period after strenuous use to prevent oil breakdown and sludge formation. Periodic engine flushes and the use of oil additives like Liqui Moly Ceratec are strongly recommended to protect the turbocharger and the entire lubrication system.
