This involves running the pump with fluid to identify any leaks from seals or gaskets, ensuring the pump can effectively circulate coolant without leakage. The hub is pulled to ensure it is securely mounted and not likely to come loose, signifying a high-quality, reliable component. Unitized Seal A “Unitized seal” on a Heavy Duty water pump refers to a pre-assembled, single-unit mechanical seal that prevents coolant from leaking out by creating a barrier between the rotating shaft and the stationary pump housing.
