NP249 Transfer Case

The Zumbrota Drivetrain RTC249J-3 is a remanufactured NP249 transfer case specifically engineered for the 1996-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Quadra-Trac 4WD models. This unit undergoes a rigorous rebuilding process to meet high standards of quality and reliability. Each transfer case and its internal components are meticulously inspected for wear, including cracks, stripped threads, shaft straightness, gear wear, and chain stretch. Zumbrota Drivetrain employs an exclusive Hydro-blast rinse and blasting procedure, followed by a proprietary shot-enticed deep cleaning process for both internal and external parts. During the rebuild, all bearings, seals, and viscous couplers are replaced. The finished units are then thoroughly spun tested to ensure proper shiftability and quiet operation. Key specifications include a 23-spline input shaft with a .84-inch exposed length, a bolt-on front output yoke, and a 27-spline slip yoke style rear output shaft. It features a 1.75-inch speedometer hole and a 4-pin shift indicator switch located above the shift lever. The transfer case is constructed with a 2-piece tail housing. The Hollander number for this unit is 412-285. All transfer cases are shipped in high-density plastic totes to prevent damage during transit.
