The Rogue Engineering OCTANE Short Shift Kit offers a significant upgrade for your BMW's manual transmission, providing a sportier and more precise feel by reducing shifter throw. Rogue Engineering distinguishes itself by avoiding simple "lever substitution" and instead develops kits through extensive testing in their own facility. This commitment ensures a refined product tailored to enhance the OEM ergonomic controls. The heart of the OCTANE kit is its shifter lever, featuring a CNC-machined 303 stainless steel upper section. This component adds 150g of mass compared to aluminum, contributing to an improved shifter feel. Additionally, the kit incorporates advanced materials and bonding techniques to maintain the vibration-dampening qualities of the original shifter while achieving a shorter, more positive throw. It boasts 308% more vibration-absorbing material than its closest competitor, minimizing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) and shifter free play without excessive harshness. Further enhancing the design, the stainless steel lower section is threaded for integration with the pivot ball, eliminating circlips and ensuring a pre-set distance. The pivot ball is stainless steel for durability, and the lower pivot bushings are made from heat-resistant Delrin. The exclusive Self-Adjusting Pivot Point (SAPP) technology eliminates the typical break-in period found in other shifters, allowing the pivot to move freely at all times. This system uses a unique wave spring mechanism to continuously load the pivot assembly, compensating for bushing wear and preventing unwanted play for a consistently solid shifter feel. This specific kit, the RE.OCT.F80, is engineered for various BMW models including the F8X M3/M4 (2015-), F87 M2 (2017-2020, N55/S55), and G80/G82/G87 M2/M3/M4 (2022+). Depending on the selected model, the kit may include the shifter lever, a replacement carrier, and a selector rod. Optional transmission mounts and a shifter rear carrier bushing upgrade are available for certain applications.
