The James Barone Racing Oil Catch Can Kit is engineered to address the issue of oil mist and contaminants accumulating on intake valves in your 2014-2018 Mazda 3, particularly the 2.0L and 2.5L engines where fuel doesn't wash the valves. During normal engine operation, blow-by gases and oil vapor from the rotating assembly are routed through the PCV valve into the intake. Without a catch can, some of this oil mist adheres to the hot intake valves, forming a crust that significantly reduces performance and can lead to costly repairs. The JBR Oil Catch Can effectively captures this oil mist before it reaches the cylinders. As PCV gases enter the JBR Oil Catch Can, a pressure drop causes the oil to fall out of suspension. The gas then passes through a series of three perforated plates, which utilize capillary action to capture the oil. The catch can has a capacity of 350ml, easily checked with the integrated dipstick, and features a convenient drain valve for simple emptying.
