Description

The National 473458 is an oil seal designed for applications where shafts rotate and bearings require lubrication. It features a nitrile lip material and a spring-loaded, multi-lip design. The seal is constructed with a metal case, which may include a Redi-Coat rubberized coating to help fill minor bore imperfections upon installation.

This seal operates within a temperature range of -40°F to 225°F (-40°C to 107°C). Nitrile is a common sealing material, offering good resistance to most mineral oils and greases, as well as low swell properties in hydrocarbon fluids. However, it exhibits poor ozone resistance and can be degraded by lubricants containing sulfur or EP additives, or by certain water-based fluids at higher temperatures.
