The APR Open Intake System is engineered for optimal airflow on 1.8T and 2.0T EA888.3/3B/4/4B engines, commonly found in MQB, MQB EVO, and MQB Ax platform vehicles. This system boasts a straight-through filter design, minimizing twists and bends to maximize flow and reduce pressure drop. The proprietary washable and reusable cotton gauze high-flow filter offers 20% more surface area than stock, flows 22% more air, and features a massive 127mm (5”) outlet, which is 260% larger than the factory tube's cross-sectional area. This design accelerates air velocity and smoothly transitions to the factory back tube, supporting both MAF and non-MAF engine configurations. The heatshield and inlet pipe are constructed from a glass-filled polypropylene material, serving as an effective heat deflection barrier to minimize inlet air temperatures. Installation is straightforward, typically involving popping the system into place on factory mounting pegs. Key features include an open airbox design, enhanced engine and turbocharger sounds, and better throttle and turbo response compared to stock. For vehicles equipped with Secondary Air Injection (SAI), the additional CI100020-A SAI air filter, sold separately, is required. This product is TUV approved for the target platform and is emissions-friendly, though it is not legal for sale or use in California.
