The APR Open PEX Intake System is designed for performance enthusiasts seeking maximum horsepower and torque gains for 1.8T/2.0T EA888 Gen 3/4 MQB engines. This system replaces the restrictive factory airbox with a large, 7-inch washable and reusable cotton filter, significantly increasing airflow and reducing pressure drop. Its PEX construction includes a heat shield to deflect hot air away from the intake tract.

The APR Open PEX Intake System is engineered to be the best dollar-per-horsepower intake upgrade for the 1.8T/2.0T EA888 Gen 3/4 MQB engine. It dramatically maximizes performance and sound by reducing pressure drop and increasing mass airflow. This translates to tangible gains in horsepower and torque throughout the power band, while also reducing physical strain on the turbocharger. The system features an open airbox design utilizing a massive 7-inch washable and reusable cotton filter with a frontal inlet and 4-inch rear outlet. This design maximizes airflow and minimizes pressure drop across the factory system. The PEX material construction offers an OEM feel and allows for a complex heat shield shape that effectively keeps hot air away from the intake tract. It retains less heat compared to metal alternatives, making it ideal for performance applications. Key features include gains of up to +12 AWHP and +13 AWFT-LBS of torque over stock, a 60% improvement in airflow compared to the factory airbox (833 CFM vs. 521 CFM), and compatibility with APR and factory rear intake tubes and turbo inlet pipes. Important fitment notes: Models equipped with Secondary Air Injection (SAI) require a breather filter (CI100020-A). This system does not fit 2.0T EA888.3b engines with a MAF sensor on the intake tube; for those applications, part # CI100054 should be used. Additionally, this intake system is not compatible with the MS100100 intake-mounted Catch Can System.
