Open PEX Intake System

The APR Open PEX Intake System is engineered to be the premier dollar-per-horsepower upgrade for 1.8T/2.0T EA888 Gen 3/4 MQB engines. It dramatically enhances performance and sound by minimizing pressure drop and maximizing airflow, resulting in noticeable gains in horsepower and torque while reducing physical strain on the turbocharger. The system features a massive 7-inch, washable, and reusable cotton filter with a frontal inlet and 4-inch rear outlet, specifically designed to limit pressure drop and improve overall airflow. Its PEX material construction allows for a complex, organic heat shield shape that effectively deflects heat from the radiator away from the intake tract, while also retaining less heat than metal alternatives. This intake system provides performance improvements with gains of up to +12 AWHP and +13 AWFT-LBS of torque over stock. It outflows the factory airbox by 60%, achieving 833 CFM compared to the factory's 521 CFM. Beyond power gains, the system improves throttle response, lessens pressure drop, reduces turbocharger strain, and creates an intoxicating intake sound. Important fitment notes and compatibility considerations apply. Models equipped with Secondary Air Injection (SAI) will require a breather filter (CI100020-A). For 2.0T EA888.3b engines with an MAF sensor on the intake tube, the MAF adapter CI100051 is necessary. This intake system is explicitly not compatible with the MS100100 intake-mounted Catch Can System. Additionally, while legal for sale and use in most states under EPA policy, this product is not legal for sale or use in California, as testing for 50-state compliance with CARB is pending.
