P-Series Main Bearing Set

The Clevite MS-590P is a P-Series main bearing set, part of the venerable Clevite 77 bearing family, specifically engineered for high-revving engines. These bearings are constructed from a cast copper-lead material, providing approximately 20% greater fatigue strength than bearings made through sintering processes. Featuring a tri-layer design, the MS-590P series is capable of handling maximum loads up to 12,000 psi, which is significantly higher than stock bearings. This design includes a hard steel backing and an extra-thin, electro-plated lead-based overlay. The P-Series is considered the most versatile in the Clevite lineup, making it ideal for engine rebuilds anticipating demanding use such as heavy-duty applications, motorsports, or street performance. These main bearings are designed for direct fitment in Ford Passenger & Truck V8 engines including the 221, 255, 260, 289, and 302 CID variants from 1962 to 1994. They are also specifically noted for fitment in 1979-1995 Ford Mustangs with 5.0 and 5.8L engines.
