The Maximum Motorsports Panhard Bar (MMPBA) is a crucial suspension upgrade for 1979-1998 Mustangs, addressing the factory's omission of this component, earning it the nickname "the part that Ford forgot." This aluminum suspension link's primary function is to provide lateral (sideways) location of the rear axle relative to the chassis. Installing the MM Panhard Bar offers a dramatic improvement in Mustang stability and handling. It directly combats the notorious stock rear-steer effect, which causes the rear of the car to steer itself unpredictably during cornering and acceleration. This results in a more stable and controlled driving experience, appreciated by enthusiasts and even noticeable to passengers. The MMPBA is considered a mandatory component for any Mustang aiming for truly great handling characteristics. When installing this Panhard Bar with the OEM 4-link rear suspension, it is strongly recommended to use stock upper control arms with rubber bushings. Utilizing upper control arms with non-rubber bushings can lead to increased suspension bind, potentially causing snap oversteer when cornering. Additionally, be aware that some aftermarket rear lower control arms may relocate the swaybar rearward, leading to significant interference with the MM aluminum Panhard rod.
