This camshaft is designed for applications such as drifting, track racing, and drag racing, aiming to optimize valve opening and closing durations for maximum performance in the 4,000-10,000 RPM range. Tomei utilizes high-strength raw materials and precision CNC grinding to achieve exceptional quality and accuracy. The ProCam profile features a quicker valve opening time and a gentle closing characteristic, which contributes to the stability of valve seat rings and reduces stress on the valvetrain. This design aims to provide a balanced profile, offering significantly higher lift compared to stock camshafts while minimizing mechanical stress and friction loss. The focus is on maximizing valve efficiency not just through timing and lift, but also by improving intake airflow. Installation of the Tomei ProCam requires high-performance valve springs. The camshaft's surface is treated with a manganese phosphate coating, applied through a steeping press process, to provide protection against damage during initial lubrication and ensure smooth operation. This coating creates a thin, durable layer that prevents direct metal-to-metal contact. Fitment for this specific camshaft, TA301C-TY03H, is for Toyota Supra RWD models from 1993-1998 with the 2JZ-GTE VVT-i engine.
