The COMP Cams Phaser Limiter Kit (CCA5493CPG) is engineered for Ford 5.0L Coyote Modular V8 engines to control variable valve timing. This U.S. patented kit physically restricts the maximum camshaft phasing to 20 crank degrees, equivalent to 10 cam degrees. This precise limitation is crucial for certain camshaft upgrades, as it creates a safer piston-to-valve clearance, allowing for the installation of larger, more aggressive camshafts. Originally recognized as the Best New Performance-Racing Product at the 2010 SEMA show, these phaser limiters are designed to work with the computer-controlled cam gears that optimize camshaft timing based on engine RPM. By limiting the range of cam timing movement, the kit provides a more stable and predictable valvetrain operation, which is beneficial when a fixed cam timing is desired or required for performance. This limiter kit is specifically noted for applications involving camshafts with increased duration and lift, where the factory VVT range might lead to clearance issues. By locking out the phasers, tuners can manually enter their desired cam degrees, ensuring optimal performance and engine safety.
