Phenolic Intake Manifold Adapter Kit

The IE Engineering IEBAVA16 is a phenolic transition spacer designed for 1.8T engines, facilitating the installation of a large port intake manifold onto a small port cylinder head. Constructed from heat-resistant phenolic material with a thickness of 12.5mm, this adapter drastically minimizes heat transfer, which in turn helps to reduce intake air temperatures and increase horsepower. It is made in the U.S.A. and includes all necessary extended hardware and two intake manifold gaskets for a direct installation. This adapter can also be used in reverse, transitioning from a small port manifold to a big port head. When used with an Integrated Engineering intake manifold on a small port head, it creates a perfect setup. However, due to its 12.5mm thickness, users should check for clearance with their current intake manifold setup. One user noted that the manifold sits slightly higher with the adapter, leading to a tight clearance under a carbon fiber hood, though a stock hood might have sufficient space. The IEBAVA16 is compatible with various Audi and Volkswagen models equipped with the 1.8T 20V engine, including the Audi A4 B5 (1996-2001), A4 B6 (2002-2005), and TT Mk1 (1998-2007), as well as VW Golf/GTI Mk4 (1999.5-2005), Mk4 (1999.5-2005), and Passat B5 (1998-2005). Note that this product is not currently legal for road use in California due to emissions compliance and cannot be sold or shipped to California addresses. It also comes with a California Prop 65 warning regarding potential cancer and reproductive harm.
