The Z Garage Plenum Block Off Plates are designed to block off all intake plenum accessories on your Z31, including the idle air control valve (IAC), cold start idle up valve, and the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. The kit also includes a block off for the EGR port in the exhaust manifold, and all the necessary bolts for a quick and easy installation. For optimal sealing, it is recommended to use a thin layer of black RTV sealant (not included) or the original gaskets if they are in good condition. This kit is particularly useful for Z31 owners transitioning to a standalone ECU, allowing for a cleaner engine bay and intake setup. When used with a stock ECU, blocking off the idle air control valve can help achieve a higher idle, especially on cold starts or when the air conditioning is engaged. Note that removing this component may require adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body to maintain an adequate base idle, potentially resulting in a higher hot idle.
