Polyrex EP 2 Polyurea Grease

The Mobil Polyrex EP 2 is a high-performance, shear-stable polyurea grease engineered for demanding industrial and construction applications. It delivers exceptional extreme-pressure (EP) and load-carrying capabilities, ensuring reliable lubrication even under heavy loads. The proprietary polyurea thickener system is formulated for superior resistance to oxidation and oil separation, maintaining its integrity at operating temperatures as high as 160°C (320°F). Key features include outstanding high-temperature oxidation stability, meaning it resists degradation and maintains lubricating properties at elevated temperatures. Unlike conventional EP additives that can degrade at high temperatures, Mobil Polyrex EP 2 continues to offer wear and extreme-pressure protection up to 160°C (320°F) without rapid oxidation. This is supported by ASTM D 3336 grease life tests, where it showed 3 to 5 times better high-temperature lubrication life compared to competitive multi-purpose lithium-base greases. The grease also boasts superb shear stability, a testament to its durable polyurea thickener system. It maintains its consistency even when subjected to mechanical stress, as demonstrated by minimal change in NLGI grade after extensive working strokes in ASTM D 217 cone penetration tests. This is crucial for preventing grease leakage or purging in roller bearing applications. Furthermore, Mobil Polyrex EP 2 offers excellent water resistance due to its enhanced formulation with water-resistant polymers. It forms a tenacious protective film in wet environments and performs exceptionally well in water washout and water spray-off tests (ASTM D 1264 and ASTM D 4049), ensuring it stays in place even under pressurized water spray. Its wide operating temperature range is -20°C (-4°F) to 160°C (320°F).
