Inspired by racing machine intake funnels, it employs a Dual Funnel design where the primary funnel channels air directly into the lower funnel at the base, a concept proven in earlier models. This design aims to increase air speed without altering airflow direction, with the lower funnel's 14-degree curve maximizing efficiency and its proximity to the base reducing drag and eliminating "dead spots." Constructed with highly durable injected resin, the Power Intake features a newly developed dry-density fiber layer filter material. This enhances element density, providing maximum protection against foreign materials entering the engine. Compared to previous models, it reduces ventilation resistance by approximately 10%, contributing to optimal performance. As a dry-type filter, it is essentially maintenance-free, avoiding issues like oil sticking to airflow meters common with wet-type cleaners. Filter replacement, when needed, is described as simple and cost-effective. Installation requires removal of the stock air filter and airbox. While generally straightforward, the original APEXi instructions are noted to be in Japanese and include some incorrect diagrams, necessitating careful assembly. Tools typically required include various screwdrivers, pliers, and 10mm, 12mm, and 13mm sockets and wrenches.
