Internally, the muffler features a 2.375" OD Straight-Flow design, mirroring Racing Beat's RX-7 Turbo II systems, to maximize performance potential. It is finished with a 3.5" OD polished 304-stainless steel tip, making it capable of handling applications ranging from stock to full race setups. The internal packing consists of stainless steel wool and ceramic insulation, meticulously tuned by Racing Beat's engineers to deliver an optimal exhaust note – a deep, throaty sound with no harsh or droning frequencies. Dyno tests on a stock 1999 Miata showed a gain of 2.4 hp with this muffler alone. Combining it with a Racing Beat air intake can yield up to 8.5 hp. The muffler is 50-state emissions legal and compliant with all California sound level requirements. Installation involves unbolting the original muffler, removing it from the hanger grommets, and installing the new unit in reverse. A critical fitment note for automatic transmission models: there are ongoing discrepancies with mounting flange bolt-hole spacing. Owners are advised to measure their specific vehicle's flange bolt-hole spacing. The center-to-center measurement for automatic transmissions is typically 3.46" (88mm), while manual transmissions measure 4.33" (110mm).
