Founded by John Norcia in Canton, Ohio in 1971, Ram Clutches relocated to Columbia, SC in 1983 and is now operated by his sons, Mike and Pat Norcia. They work closely with racing teams, particularly in drag racing, achieving success since 1987. The company boasts complete in-house machining capabilities including 6 CNC machines, 2 Blanchard grinders, and 2 balancing tables. Ram was the first to introduce the 3-paddle drag racing clutch with metallic pads in 1972, eliminating common clutch hub troubles and obtaining a patent in 1974. They pioneered and patented the Poly-Coil clutch hub spring in 1978, significantly increasing clutch center plate capability and life. They also developed 6-1/4 inch circle track clutches for quicker acceleration and introduced Carbon-Carbon friction technology to professional clutch systems in 1983 for softer engagement. Other innovations include the RAM Coupler for circle track racing in 1984, which is a unique 5-pound, 4-inch diameter product. Ram produces all flywheels, hydraulic bearings, and many small parts in-house. Their proprietary clutch covers for Mustang and LS applications ensure consistent static pressures. They also produce the only stand-driven Street Dual disc systems where the floater drives positively off a stand, rather than depending on a strap, which is better for higher horsepower applications. Ram billet racing clutch systems have been used by numerous champions in IHRA Pro Stock, ADRL Pro Stock, PDRA Pro Stock, NHRA Pro Mod, and ADRL.
