Serious rear travel requires serious structure, and the Dirt King Prefab Bed Cage serves as the essential foundation for long-travel rear suspension systems. Its design prioritizes stability by mounting shocks outside the frame rails, unlike cantilever systems, and utilizes a near 1:1 motion ratio for effective dampening with vertically mounted shocks. The construction features robust boxed plate and tube elements, utilizing 2"x.120" tubing and 1/4", 3/16", and 1/8" plates. It offers specific recommendations for leaf packs (Deaver R81) and shock configurations, including a recommended 16" shock length (26" collapsed, 42" extended) with compatibility for 3.0" diameter shocks (2.5"-3.5" range) and bypass tubes on both the front and back. Installation requires welding four brackets to the frame, after which the entire kit bolts together. It is compatible with both leaf-over and leaf-under spring packs. An axle width requirement necessitates 1.5"-2" wheel spacers or a 1.5"-2" wider axle per side. Accessory mounting holes are integrated into the center section for accessories like dust lights and flag whips. This bed cage is specifically designed for the 2019-2025 model years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
