Pro-Billet Distributor Chevy V8

The MSD 85551 Pro-Billet Distributor is engineered for high-RPM race track performance in Chevy V8 engines. Its housing is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, ensuring precise tolerances, while the billet aluminum base adds to its robust construction. The polished steel shaft is QPQ coated for enhanced friction reduction and corrosion resistance, and it is supported by a sealed ball bearing and an extra-long sintered bushing for high-RPM stability. This distributor utilizes a maintenance-free magnetic pickup and a precision reluctor, which work together to create stable trigger signals across the entire RPM range. It features an adjustable mechanical advance assembly that comes with supplied springs and stop bushings, allowing for fine-tuning of the advance curve to match specific applications. The advance weights and plate are fine blanked from chrome moly steel and QPQ coated for reduced friction. Crucially, this distributor will not accept a vacuum advance canister. It is designed to be used exclusively with an MSD 6, 7, or 8-series ignition control. The unit is supplied with an HEI-style distributor cap and rotor, which accepts Cap-A-Dapts. O-ring seals can be added to modified blocks to improve oil pressure control, and a special oil tract enhances lubrication to the distributor and cam gear.
