The MSD 8545 Pro-Billet Distributor is a high-performance ignition component specifically designed for Chrysler V8 engines, including the 361, 383, and 400 cubic inch displacements. This distributor utilizes a maintenance-free magnetic pickup and a precision reluctor to ensure stable trigger signals across the entire RPM range. It offers an easy-to-adjust mechanical advance system, complete with supplied springs and stop bushings for tuning. The polished steel shaft, QPQ coated for durability, is guided by two sealed ball bearings, promoting smooth operation. The advance plate and weights are also QPQ coated for friction reduction and are guided by nylon pads. Installation of the MSD 8545 requires an external MSD ignition control (6, 7, or 8-series). The mechanical advance assembly can be locked out for use with crank trigger systems. It comes supplied with a small diameter cap featuring HEI style terminals and a race rotor, and is compatible with the 8441 Cap-A-Dapt. Note that this distributor is intended for race/off-road use or for pre-1966 vehicles due to CARB regulations; it does not have a CARB exemption order number.
