The Summit Racing Pro LS valve springs, specifically the SUM-174002 model, are engineered to be a critical component in building significant engine power. Valve springs are often overlooked but are essential for optimal valvetrain performance, especially when upgrading camshafts. The SUM-174002 springs offer a 1.270-inch diameter, 90 lbs. of seat pressure at 1.800 inches installed height, and 295 lbs. of open pressure at a maximum lift of 0.550 inches. The spring rate is 375 lbs. per inch. Upgrading to these Summit Racing valve springs can significantly increase an engine's usable RPM range, potentially adding over 1,000 RPM in many applications. For those undertaking a GM LS engine build, Summit Racing also offers Pro LS Camshaft & Spring Kits that provide matched camshafts and valve springs, often including valve seals and locks for a complete valvetrain solution. These springs are often referred to as LS6 style beehive springs and have been noted to help engines carry power further into the RPM band.
