The Top Street Performance Pro Series Ready-to-Run Distributor is engineered to enhance ignition performance in Ford small block Windsor V8 engines (221, 260, 289, 302 CID). This HEI-type distributor integrates a circuit board ignition module with a magnetic pickup trigger directly into its housing, simplifying installation by removing the need for an external ignition box. Its design allows for the use of higher-output external coils, supporting those rated at 35,000V or more for increased spark energy. The distributor features a CNC-machined billet aluminum body and a hardened steel shaft for durability. It includes both mechanical and vacuum advance to allow for precise timing curve tuning, suitable for carbureted street or performance applications. The rotor turns counterclockwise, matching the standard rotation for Ford Windsor V8s. It is designed for a 12-volt electrical system with an alternator. Important compatibility notes include that this distributor will not fit Ford 351W engines and is not intended for EFI-equipped 302 engines; a specific EFI-to-Carb conversion distributor is available for those applications. It is incompatible with generator-based charging systems and requires the removal or bypass of any active ballast resistor in the ignition circuit.
