The design prioritizes optimizing valve opening and closing duration for maximum efficiency. By incorporating a quicker valve opening time and a gentle closing profile, the camshafts aim to enhance stability in the valve seat rings, thereby reducing stress on surrounding valvetrain components and minimizing unwanted noise. Each profile within the Procam line is meticulously developed to deliver peak performance in the 4,000-10,000 RPM range. Constructed using the strongest raw materials and precision ground by industry-leading CNC machinery, Tomei ensures exceptional quality and accuracy. The camshaft surfaces are treated with a manganese phosphate coating via a steeping press process, creating a 0.5mm to 15-micrometer layer to protect against damage during initial lubrication-free contact and promote smooth operation. These camshafts require high-performance valve springs for optimal function. Tomei has focused on creating a well-balanced profile that can achieve 1.3-1.5 times the performance of stock camshafts, without the severe drawbacks of rough idling or poor low-speed performance often associated with longer durations and larger lifts.
