Overview

This Dorman OE FIX PTU addresses common failures in factory power take-off units on certain Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, and Mercury AWD vehicles. Original PTUs often fail due to extreme temperatures overheating the internal lubricant, leading to catastrophic damage, or from extreme cold causing seal failure and oil leaks. Symptoms include metallic rattling and/or a natural gas-like scent. This 100% newly manufactured, patented PTU is redesigned for thermal resilience, featuring an added heatshield (reducing internal temperatures by up to 30°F) and a drain plug for easy lubricant replacement. Upgraded seals prevent degradation in temperatures as low as -40°F. This provides a more reliable and permanent replacement, reducing maintenance costs and downtime for vehicle owners and fleet managers.
