Overview

The Peterson Fluid Systems 04-5054 is a 5-stage R4 dry sump oil pump designed for motorsports applications. It features 1.200 in. pressure and 1.200 in. scavenge stages with a bellhousing mount. Constructed from 6061 T6 aluminum with twisted lobe rotors, this pump is built for performance and reliability.

The R4 oil pump utilizes a unique twisted lobe rotor design for consistent oil pressure, even with high-temperature, low-viscosity oils, and its scavenge sections create significant vacuum. The pump has a 5/8 in. steel drive shaft with a 3/16 in. keyway for accessory drives and includes a rear drive provision for mounting components like fuel pumps or power steering pumps with the appropriate adapter.

The Peterson Fluid Systems R4 5-Stage Oil Pump (04-5054) is engineered for high-performance racing and street applications, offering a balance of robust oil pressure and efficient scavenging. This dry sump pump features standard volume 1.200 in. pressure and 1.200 in. scavenge stages, housed within a durable 6061 T6 aluminum casing. Built on over 50 years of fluid engineering and racing experience, Peterson pioneered the twisted lobe rotor design, ensuring stable oil pressure even under demanding conditions such as high temperatures and low viscosity oil. Despite its powerful performance, the R4 pump is surprisingly lightweight due to its shallow depth screw-in fittings, profile machining, and aluminum rotors. This specific model is a bellhousing mount type with a rear drive provision. The 5/8 inch diameter steel drive shaft includes a 3/16 inch keyway, designed to accept appropriately sized pulleys or can be machined with a 3/8 inch male hex for cam or accessory drives. The rear drive also allows for the direct mounting of popular accessories like fuel pumps, vacuum pumps, or power steering pumps with the correct adapter. The pump includes a rear drive adapter for power steering pumps. Designed and manufactured in the USA, the R4 Oil Pump is trusted by discerning engine builders for its ability to maintain proper oil pressure and volume at critical times, thereby protecting and extending engine life. It is equally suited for diverse racing environments, from drag racing to endurance events and off-road competitions. The oil pressure is adjustable with a built-in relief system, and additional fittings are available to customize the pump for specific applications.
