R600 Cold Air Intake System

The Racingline R600 intake is recognized as a sophisticated cold air intake system for MQB-platform EA888 cars. Its design centers around a vastly enlarged airbox that accommodates a massive TriFoam triple-layer filter, offering a significantly improved mass airflow to the turbocharger, rated up to 600bhp. This system employs twin front air intakes, drawing cool, fresh air from both sides of the car's front panel into a giant, sealed airbox. The airbox is constructed from PU material in the UK, matching the appearance and finish of the factory engine cover, and features a high-flow, domed filter with an increased surface area (96,477 mm compared to the standard 43,200mm). This design maximizes airflow while maintaining low restriction, ensuring the coolest possible air reaches the engine. The TriFoam filter material is a triple-layer laminate of open-cell polyurethane foam, providing excellent filtration down to under 5 microns without significantly restricting airflow, similar to materials used by F1 teams. Performance gains are most noticeable above 4,500rpm, offering greater horsepower and torque with a more direct and responsive feel under throttle. The system also enhances drivability and torque throughout the rev range, with turbocharger spool dropping nearly 500 RPMs, which reduces turbo lag and creates faster turbo response. The intake also delivers a richer induction noise and noticeable diverter valve sounds when lifting off the throttle between gears. The R600 intake system has been extensively tested on various MQB-platform vehicles, including Golf 7R, Golf 7 GTI, and Audi S3 models. It is recommended that for power outputs exceeding 300bhp, the fitment of this intake should be combined with a reputable ECU upgrade to maximize its benefits.
