The RV6 R660AS turbocharger represents a significant upgrade over stock TD04 turbochargers, specifically engineered for enhanced reliability and performance in high-output 2.0T applications. Moving away from the compact TD04 design, the R660AS utilizes a larger TD05 bearing housing, which is approximately twice the size, allowing for improved cooling through oversized coolant passages and -10AN coolant lines. At its core, the R660AS features an oversized 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing system designed for quick spool-up and increased thrust load capacity, contributing to both performance and durability. The compressor wheel is constructed from a lightweight, point-milled forged billet, while the turbine wheel and shaft are made from a MAR-M Super Alloy, capable of withstanding higher temperatures and loads than standard Inconel components. The turbine housing boasts a 0.81 A/R, which effectively minimizes back pressure between the turbo and the engine, resolving issues related to unstable boost and overheating. This specific R660AS model includes an Antisurge/T51R Mod compressor cover with a 76mm inlet and comes with an 82mm carbon fiber inlet pipe and an elbow. Installation is described as a direct drop-in design, though it requires the FK8/FL5/DE5 Wastegate Actuator and is recommended to use a minimum engine oil viscosity of 0W-30 or 5W-30 for optimal longevity, as per the manufacturer's warranty policy.
