Race Camshaft for 1.8T 20V

The Integrated Engineering Race Camshafts, specifically the IECVA1-1 Race Exhaust and IECVA1-2 Race Intake combination, represent the most aggressive cam set for VW/Audi 1.8T 20V engines. These cams are engineered for large aftermarket turbo builds targeting 500-850+ horsepower and an ideal powerband between 5500-8500+ RPM. The exhaust camshaft offers 267 degrees advertised duration, 218 degrees at 0.050", 0.403" lift, and a 108 CLA. The intake camshaft provides 274 degrees advertised duration, 224 degrees at 0.050", 0.370" lift, and a 108 CLA. These camshafts are specifically designed for the 1.8T 20V (06A & 058) engines and feature a pre-set cam sprocket with a factory-style timing mark for an installation process identical to stock camshafts. Due to their aggressive profiles, these cams produce a lopey idle and are recommended primarily for race use. It is also highly recommended to upgrade valve springs and retainers to handle the increased stress on valvetrain components from higher RPM limits and larger powerbands. Upgrading from factory camshafts, which are tuned for smaller stock turbochargers and low boost, is essential when using aftermarket larger turbos. These race cams sequence the valvetrain to match the turbocharger's most efficient range, unlocking significant power gains when properly set up. Note that increased valve overlap can lead to lower idle vacuum, slightly reduced idle oil pressure, and increased engine temperature, which are normal behaviors for aggressive camshaft profiles.
