Race Spec Short Throw Shifter

The MGW Race Spec Shifter is engineered for MT-82 equipped Ford Mustangs, offering a significant improvement for both racing and street use. It features a solid mounting system using billet strut arms and a direct linkage rod, which together create a solid, connected feel akin to a "top loader" transmission. This shifter boasts an updated, more compact design, introduced in 2016, which streamlines installation by allowing the unit to be fitted fully assembled within the car's oval cutout. This not only reduces installation time by at least 30 minutes but also minimizes the risk of knuckle bashing during the process, benefiting both DIYers and professional installers. MGW offers different throw reduction options with the Race Spec Shifter. The Standard model provides a 15% reduction with a standard handle or a 19% reduction with a Low Profile handle. For an even more drastic reduction, the X-SPEC model offers up to a 21% throw reduction with a standard handle or a 25% reduction with a Low Profile handle. A crucial note regarding handles: Low Profile handles are not compatible with the stock shifter ball. For these, a gripper or classic ball must be selected. The standard handle, however, can be used with the stock shifter ball, provided an OEM knob adapter is utilized.
