The unique combination of design, metallurgy, and engineering ensures they perform where other bearings cannot. Key features include a high-strength overlay plate with reduced thickness for enhanced fatigue properties, and hardened steel backs on all rod bearings for improved support and retention. The bearings also boast increased crush for better retention and eliminate flash plating on the back to improve heat transfer and grip within the housing. Increased eccentricity helps compensate for bore distortion at high RPMs and aids in forming hydrodynamic oil films. Main bearings feature a 3/4 groove design to optimize load-carrying surface area and oil flow to the connecting rod bearings. Tight, consistent wall tolerances ensure precise clearances, and enlarged ID chamfers accommodate large fillet radii on performance crankshafts. This specific set is designed for standard size applications and is compatible with the 1998-2003 BMW M5 and the 2000-2003 BMW Z8, both equipped with the S62B50 5.0L V8 engine. The set contains 16 bearings and utilizes a tri-metal bearing structure.
