The Denso Iridium Racing Spark Plug, model IKH01-27, is engineered for demanding performance applications. Its core construction utilizes an ultra-fine 0.4mm iridium alloy for the center electrode, significantly reducing voltage requirements and enhancing ignition efficiency. Complementing this is a 100% platinum 0.8mm ground electrode, designed for superior durability under severe driving and racing conditions. This performance-oriented spark plug features a hardened insulator that is 20% stronger than standard designs, making it capable of handling extreme compression and boost levels. The design also includes a patented self-cleaning electrode to repel moisture and carbon buildup, ensuring consistent performance. Machine-rolled threads are incorporated to prevent seizing or cross-threading during installation and removal. Each plug is 100% pre-fired for assured quality, and the purified alumina powder insulator provides robust strength and thermal conductivity, while a five-rib insulator design prevents flashover. A copper-glass seal ensures a gas-tight connection between the center electrode and the insulator. Key specifications include a 14mm thread diameter with a 1.25mm pitch, a gasket seat type, and a 26.5mm reach. The hex size is 5/8" (16mm), and it features a solid terminal type. The plug is also a resistor type with a value of 5k Ohm and a heat range of 27. Torque specifications are provided for both cast iron (26-30 lb. ft.) and aluminum (15-22 lb. ft.) cylinder heads.
