The AP Racing by Essex Radical COMP Brake Kit provides a significant upgrade for the front braking system of the 2022+ Subaru WRX. This kit includes AP Racing CP9668 Radi-CAL Pro5000R six-piston calipers, known for their stiffness and advanced design, finished in an durable Electroless Nickel Plated (ENP) coating. The accompanying discs are 372x34mm with 72 vanes and feature AP Racing's patented J Hook slot design, engineered to withstand the extreme heat generated during track use. This comprehensive kit offers several advantages over the factory braking system. It significantly reduces unsprung weight from the front of the vehicle, despite the larger disc size. The calipers utilize ventilated, domed back stainless steel pistons to manage heat and maintain a firm pedal feel, while anti-knockback springs mitigate pad knockback. The use of stainless steel caliper hardware and high-temperature, low-drag seals contributes to a long service life and simplified maintenance, with no dust boots to burn up. However, the CP9668 calipers use a commonly available 25mm thick pad shape. Essex offers optional pad tension kits to reduce potential NVH and a disc burnishing service to ensure the kit arrives ready for immediate use.
