Randall Cowl Intake V2

The Flyin' Miata NA Randall Cowl Intake V2 is an innovative intake system that significantly improves engine performance by drawing in truly cold air from the base of the windshield. Unlike many aftermarket intakes that prioritize noise over actual power gains, this system leverages the high-pressure zone at the windshield base for force-fed induction. The result is a dyno-proven increase of 5 horsepower at the wheels, achieved with the hood closed, ensuring valid performance measurement. This updated V2 version is constructed from durable silicone, making installation considerably easier than previous rigid tube designs. It also features a new firewall plate which serves multiple functions: it acts as a precise template for cutting the firewall opening (a 1 3/8" hole saw is required, not included), visually tidies the installation, secures the clutch line, and incorporates a protective screen to prevent leaves and debris from entering the intake. Installation involves cutting a hole in the firewall flange. This intake is CARB approved (D-601-5) and legal in all 50 US states. It fits all left-hand drive NA Miatas (1990-1997) and does not interfere with cruise control or most shock tower braces. However, it is not compatible with right-hand drive models or Flyin' Miata's master cylinder brace. It's important to note that while the intake will physically fit if used with a cowl washer bottle, the close proximity of the washer bottle to the intake mouth can reduce the horsepower gain from 5 hp to approximately 3 hp.
