The Howards Rattler camshaft is a high-performance hydraulic roller camshaft specifically designed for Chevy LS Series 3 Bolt Gen III IV engines manufactured from 1997 onwards. Constructed with the highest grade cores, this camshaft undergoes Rockwell checking and Parkerization to ensure stringent quality control. It offers a broad operating range from 2200 to 6500 RPM, with intake and exhaust lifts of 0.525 inches. The duration at 0.050 inch lift is 226 degrees for the intake and 234 degrees for the exhaust, with advertised durations of 275 and 282 degrees, respectively. The lobe separation angle is set at 109 degrees, contributing to its characteristic Rattler, choppy idle. This camshaft is optimized for high-performance street use and is compatible with stock torque converters, though it performs best with 1800+ stall speed converters and appropriate gearing. The firing order for these engines is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3.
