RB28 Short Block Engine

The Tomei RB28 Short Block (N1 Block) is a fully assembled, competition-grade engine foundation designed for extreme Nissan RB applications. Based on the legendary RB26DETT N1 engine block and stroked to 2.8L, this short block is engineered to withstand very high boost, sustained high RPM, and severe motorsports conditions. At its core is the RB26 N1 block, featuring reinforced cylinder walls and improved casting strength over standard RB26 blocks. This is paired with a full-counterweighted forged crankshaft, forged pistons, and forged connecting rods, ensuring exceptional balance, rigidity, and durability under extreme loads. The increased 2.8L displacement enhances low- and mid-range torque while maintaining the RB platform's characteristic high-revving nature. Each short block is precision-machined and assembled by Tomei to exacting tolerances, supplied fully assembled and ready for cylinder head installation. It is compatible with RB26 cylinder heads and supporting components, intended for high-performance street, track, and motorsports builds. Professional engine installation and assembly experience are required. Installation requires verifying all clearances and torque specifications during final assembly. Proper ECU tuning and upgraded fuel, cooling, and oiling systems are necessary. Following Tomei's break-in procedures is recommended for optimal durability. Recommended upgrades include a high-capacity oil pump, strengthened valvetrain, and an enhanced cooling system.
