The Dobinsons IMS rear shock absorber (IMS45-50646B) is engineered to deliver next-level performance over twin-tube shocks, especially in demanding conditions such as corrugated roads, long 4WD trips, towing, or racing. Its monotube design offers superior fade resistance. This shock absorber utilizes larger 50 and 60mm high-flow pistons that reduce internal pressures and heat generation, while also transferring heat to the shock body for faster cooling. This leads to improved damping performance and better vehicle control, particularly at higher shaft speeds on rough terrain or during significant impacts. The construction includes a DOM seamless tubing body, a micropolished, hard-chromed, and heat-treated shock shaft, and a CNC aluminum high-flow piston for ultimate performance and off-road durability. Threaded bodies on the struts allow for fine-tuning of vehicle height and contribute to improved cooling. Dobinsons engineers spend extensive time tuning shim stacks and damping characteristics to achieve a balance of comfort, handling, vehicle control, and off-road capability. Specific fitment information indicates this part is suitable for Nissan Navara/Frontier D23 NP300 models from 2014-2021, and LDV D90 SV9A models from 2017 onwards. Some online sources also suggest compatibility with 2005-2021 Nissan Frontier, 2005-2015 Nissan Xterra, and 2005-2012 Nissan Pathfinder models, with potential for 2 to 4 inches of lift depending on application.
