Rear Thermostat Relocation Kit

The Supermiata coolant reroute is a performance enhancement for Mazda Miata vehicles, aimed at resolving uneven engine cooling. Mazda's original design placed the thermostat at the front of the engine for packaging reasons, which resulted in incomplete coolant circulation through the rear half of the engine. This often led to poor heat transfer and elevated temperatures in the #4 cylinder. This reroute kit moves the thermostat to its intended location at the back of the engine, ensuring more uniform temperature distribution and improved heat exchange throughout the entire engine block. The design boasts an 8% improvement in flow area compared to stock and is engineered for maximum flow, even including the heater core for consistent cabin warmth. The housing is a single-piece construction to prevent leaks, and it accepts off-the-shelf 195°F thermostats, with an option for a 180°F unit. A bleeder screw is incorporated for easy air removal, and a bracket secures the upper radiator hose. This kit is also uniquely compatible with turbocharger cooling systems. It integrates with the engine's cooling to manage the heat generated by water-cooled turbos, preventing excessively hot coolant from returning directly to the engine. Custom-formed hoses are now included for simplified installation, eliminating the need for adapters or complex routing. This kit is compatible with both upright and crossflow radiators, EGR piping, and the Supermiata Big Spark kit. It is designed for 1990-1997 (NA) and 1999-2005 (NB) Mazda Miata models, including the MSM variant. Optional turbo connection kits are available for Garrett and Mazdaspeed Miata IHI turbos, featuring multi-layer silicone lines with heat shielding and all necessary fittings. If your turbo does not have banjo fittings, separate banjo fittings can be purchased.
