This unit is built with an 8.8" ring gear, a 3.73 gear ratio, and is configured for 9" drum brakes, incorporating a Posi Limited Slip Differential for enhanced traction. Every axle assembly is rebuilt to strict standards, beginning with a comprehensive inspection of the housing for straightness, cracks, and surface wear. Internally, all components, including the ring and pinions, gears, clutches, and carriers, are fully inspected and tested. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, all bearings, seals, crush sleeves, pinion nuts, and shims are replaced with new parts. The gear setup is precisely calibrated using inch-pound measurements for correct rolling torque and backlash, ensuring proper lubrication and quiet operation. Zumbrota Drivetrain employs an exclusive multi-stage cleaning process, including hydro-blasting and sandblasting, followed by a proprietary shot-peening deep cleaning method.
