The Zumbrota Drivetrain RAA435-1885B is a remanufactured axle assembly engineered to meet and exceed OEM standards for 1996-2001 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer models with an 8.8" ring gear and a 3.73 gear ratio. This assembly is rebuilt with a focus on precision and reliability. Zumbrota Drivetrain employs a rigorous remanufacturing process. Each axle assembly is meticulously inspected for straightness, cracks, and surface wear. All internal components, including the ring and pinion, internal gears, clutches, and carriers, are thoroughly inspected and tested. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, all bearings, seals, crush sleeves, pinion nuts, and shims are replaced with new parts. The gears are inspected for precise tooth contact patterns, and correct rolling torque is established using inch-pound measurements for setup and durability. Furthermore, the axle tubes are inspected to ensure they meet OEM specifications for straightness. Housings are tested for surface wear and cracks. Zumbrota utilizes an exclusive hydro-blast rinse and sandblasting procedure on both internal and external parts, followed by a proprietary shot-peening deep cleaning process. This comprehensive cleaning process restores the housings to an OEM finish. This axle assembly features a semi-floating axle type, includes the cover, but does not include fluid.
