Description

The Rapido Trains GE 44-Tonner is an HO scale model locomotive. This model is based on the small switchers produced by General Electric, commonly known as 44-Tonners. These locomotives were designed to meet a 1937 labor agreement that required a fireman for locomotives over 90,000 pounds. The 44-Tonner's weight of 44 tons (88,000 pounds) allowed railroads to use only an engineer, saving crew costs. They were ideal for light switching, industrial, and shop use.
