The COMP Cams 854-16 Retro-Fit Hydraulic Roller Lifters are engineered as a performance upgrade for Chevrolet 396-454 Big Block engines that originally came with flat tappet camshafts, or as a retro-fit solution for non-roller blocks. These lifters feature a standard 0.842-inch diameter and a 2.47-inch seat height, with a link bar design for stability. Compared to traditional flat tappet lifters, the roller wheel on these hydraulic roller lifters significantly decreases friction, leading to increased longevity for both the lifters and the camshaft. This reduced friction also allows for the use of more aggressive cam profiles, which can unlock greater performance potential from your engine. These lifters are specifically designed for the Chevrolet 396-454 Big Block engine family. They are also noted as being C.A.R.B. exempt for racing and off-road only vehicles, as well as for federally certified vehicles manufactured before 1967, California certified vehicles manufactured before 1965, and foreign vehicles manufactured before 1967, provided they meet tailpipe emission standards for their respective year. However, they are not exempt for on-road vehicles.
